Health Sciences Centre (HSC) Winnipeg is the largest health care centre in Manitoba. We are an interdisciplinary team of nearly 8,000 staff and volunteers who serve people in Manitoba, northwestern Ontario and Nunavut.
HSC is the designated Trauma Centre for Manitoba, as well as the centre for transplants, burns, neurosciences and pediatric care. Our highly skilled teams of professional staff provide acute care and continuing care.
As an operating division of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, we provide comprehensive diagnostic, outpatient (ambulatory) and inpatient services that support the physical, medical and emotional needs of the people and communities we serve. Our clinical programs include:
HSC plays a special role in providing primary care to the community surrounding the hospital and in the core area of Winnipeg, as well as to Aboriginal and Inuit peoples across Manitoba, northwestern Ontario and Nunavut. We also work with community agencies and health facilities inside and outside of Manitoba to provide several specialized province-wide programs unique to HSC.
We are formally affiliated with the University of Manitoba, whose students learn from us, and where many of our staff teach and do research.

Northern Connection Medical Centre
The Winnipeg Health Region and the University of Manitoba have joined forces to establish a new medical centre in Winnipeg to support the needs of northern Manitobans. The Northern Connection Medical Centre (NCMC), 425 Elgin Avenue is designed with a dual purpose in mind: To provide primary care and other medical services for northern and remote residents who are temporarily in Winnipeg, while a the same time helping train medical residents to become family physicians who will work in northern and remote locations.
In addition, the centre will also serve as the home base for some of the Winnipeg Health Region physicians who work with the University of Manitoba's Northern Medical Unit flying into northern communities to provide care.
